Resident Evil Requiem Guide & Walkthrough

What is Resident Evil Requiem?

Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth entry in Capcom’s survival horror series, and it packs two very different experiences into one package. FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft lives out the genre’s classic dread as she investigates a fresh bioterror outbreak in a condemned Raccoon City hotel, while legendary agent Leon S. Kennedy throws himself into the same incident with shooter-driven intensity. Their intertwined journeys form an emotional story that reaches into the city’s dark past, with Grace’s search for answers about her mother — reporter Alyssa Ashcroft — at the mystery’s core.

Getting started

Know this before you start: the game is built around two parallel campaigns. Grace’s story leans survival horror — slower pacing, puzzles, cautious exploration. Leon’s leans action — more combat, more mobility, faster tempo. There’s no wrong starting point; pick the character whose style suits you, then play the other afterward, because each story fills in the other’s gaps.

Expect the series’ signature loop from the first hour: explore a confined, hostile environment, solve environmental puzzles to open new routes, and manage a limited inventory of weapons, ammo, and healing items. The condemned hotel is the center of the early investigation, and revisiting old rooms with new tools is part of the intended design. When you’re stuck, the answer is usually in a note, a document, or a room you rushed past.

Tips for beginners

  • Play both characters. The dual narrative is the whole point — Grace’s clues explain Leon’s situation and vice versa. Budget time for a second playthrough.
  • Search everything. Ammo and healing items are scarce early on. Open every drawer, read every document, and backtrack whenever you gain a new key or item.
  • Conserve ammo. This is survival horror, not a cover shooter. Slip past fights you can avoid, and save heavy weapons for encounters that demand them.
  • Read the documents. Notes carry both gameplay clues and the story of Grace’s mother and Raccoon City’s past.
  • Manage your inventory. Drop or store what you don’t need now — a full bag can lock you out of a vital key or item.
  • Pick your first character by mood. Grace for atmosphere and puzzles, Leon for action and firefights; switch on the second run.
  • Save whenever you can. The hotel is unforgiving, and losing twenty minutes to an unexpected enemy is a classic newcomer mistake.

Is it worth playing?

For series fans, this is an easy yes. The ninth mainline entry pairs a horror heart with an action pulse, so both action players and pure survival horror fans will find something to love. The story — Grace searching for her mother in a city that refuses to stay buried — carries real emotional weight, and its 89.4 rating reflects a confident, well-crafted game. The only caveat: if you’d rather have one tight, focused campaign than two intersecting ones, the scope may feel like more than you expected.
